1. Educational nature
Vertex Vest publishes educational courses and explanations about financial literacy and how markets are described. The material is general information for readers, including beginners in Canada. It is not a service that manages money.
2. No financial advice
Nothing on this site is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Nothing is a call to buy, sell, or hold any asset. Nothing is a personal recommendation. Diagrams are conceptual. They are not records of performance and not signals.
3. Investment risk
All investments carry risks. The value of an asset can fall. You can lose money, including money you cannot afford to tie up. Risk is not removed by reading a clear definition of it.
4. No guarantees
We do not guarantee profits, returns, or any result from reading the site. We do not claim that a method on a page will succeed. There is no “success rate,” because we do not run client accounts and we do not publish fabricated results.
5. Your decisions
You are responsible for your own decisions. We are not liable for an investment decision you make, or for a decision you decide not to make, after reading the site. The pages do not know your income, debts, time horizon, or obligations.
6. Different kinds of risk
Categories of investment carry different risks, and this list is educational rather than complete. Cash can lose purchasing power. A bond can fall when rates change, and an issuer can fail to pay. Shares can fall sharply and can become hard to sell. Funds and listed products can differ from the assets they refer to. Property can be illiquid. Crypto-assets, where people discuss them, can lose most or all of their price and can be difficult to exit. Using borrowed money can magnify a loss. Currency moves can change a result measured in Canadian dollars. None of these sentences is a suggestion to prefer one category.
7. Past description is not a future result
Past performance is not a guide to future results. A historical chart, even one published by someone else, does not show what will happen next. This site does not present performance charts of its own.
8. Markets and losses
Financial markets involve risk. Losses are possible. Prices, liquidity, rules, and currencies can change. An explanation of how a market is structured is not a statement that participating in it is suitable for you.
